12. The abbreviation MT stands for “Masoretic Text” and refers to the Hebrew text with vowel markings added by Jewish scribes (known as Masoretes) in the fifth to tenth centuries CE. In some parts of the Bible, notably Psalms, verse numbers are slightly different in Hebrew and English Bibles.

13. In Judg. 5:3b, Deborah declares, “I will sing, I will make melody to the LORD, the God of Israel,” similar to Ps. 108:1b (MT 108:2b): “I will sing and make melody. Awake, my soul!” Miriam’s song in Exod. 15:21, “Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously” resonates with Ps. 98:1: “O sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things.”
